I have decided to swap to a zetec so my pinto is for sale. It is from my donor car, 1988 sierra 2.0i ghia. Included in the sale is everything needed
to install except the starter motor;
zzr1100 carbs fitted to a homemade manifold,
MK stainless exhaust manifold,
full ignition system inc. dizzy, coil etc.
flywheel and quite new clutch,
properly shortened sump and oil pickup,
modified rocker cover,
alternator,
engine mounts,
correct fuel pump for the carbs,
the engine had covered approx 75000 miles when I took it from the sierra. I have done 600 miles with it. The head was removed before installing in
my indy. The bores are in fantastic shape. A new head gasket, stretch bolts and valve stem oil seals were fitted, and the valves were reground. A
new oil spraybar was also fitted. Every gasket has been replaced. The engine was compression tested and is well within ford tolerances.
I am asking £350 for the whole lot.
I'll sort some pics asap. U2U me if you are interested.
John
Hi John, do you have any power figures for it running on the bike carbs please?
hmmmmm
cheers
andy
Hi Andy, good to hear from you.
I would reckon 130bhp, that figure is also quoted by gbs with their bike carbs. I think the biggest difference is the way the engine revs, much more
freely. Bear in mind everything else that comes with it. Basically add a starter motor, petrol, and away you go!
You know you want it, you were in the car, remember?
john
Hi John,
oh yes i do remember being out in your car, really enjoyed it.
sadly i,m not in a position to buy the set up but know someone who "might" be interested, who,s building a car without having a donor, tho i
don,t know his budget etc but i,ll pass on the info,
its a cracking deal btw, i have a spare starter if he goes for it.
good luck with the sale.
andy
why isnt the starter motor going with the engine ???
You cant use the standard one with the silvertop zetec you need on from the 1.8 CVH or 2litre DOHC engine. Not sure about the blacktop starter.
You also need to modify the sump where the started sits against it and steering column as it will foul the oil filter with a silvertop. why not keep
the carbs for the zetec again a popularr choice is to use them as TB's with injection or go carbs with megajolt spark only may keep your costs
down and still retain performance
You Can use the pinto starter
on a silvertop,you just need to fit a 14mm
spacer between the starter and bellhousing.
