For sale due to a change of chassis and engine for my trike project!
SWIFT DB1 CHASSIS
Freshly Shot-blasted & Ready For Minor Repairs / Tweaks and Paint.
Front Wishbones, Links and Rockers
Rear Wishbones
Front ARB
Steering Rack & Clamps
Steering Arms
Pedal Set
Gear Linkage
Fuel Tank
Tank Surround Plate
GRP Nosecone
GRP Side Panels
2 x Carbon Fibre Rear Covers with Air Scoops
Carbon Fibre Bi-Plane Wing.
MSA Docs & a Box of Random Odds and Sods
The chassis is straight and is in very good nick from the roll-bar forward. It's taken a knock at some point in it's life on the front n/s
corner, but the (minor) bronze-welded repairs are first class.
The rear of the chassis was converted by a previous owner for using a Yamaha R1 engine and a Quaiffe chain-drive diff (neither present!). There is a
minor welding repair required to one of the 'shoulder' sections of the roll-bar.
The bodywork is structurally good, but will need a little TLC in a few areas. The CF rear panels and wing would have cost a small fortune to make and
are in still in very good nick.
APRILIA RSVR ENGINE
V-Twin with Pseudo Slipper Clutch and Dry-Sump.
V990RR engine model (the top spec before the introduction of the V4). Only 65kg.
51mm TB's with Injectors, Velocity Stacks, TPS, Coil Packs.
Dry Sump Tank
The ECU and Clocks for the V990RR-engined bike are can-bus linked and few folk have done any hacking work on them. There is a well known conversion
to run this second generation engine using the first generation ECU and clocks. It utilises the following parts which are also included:
First Generation ECU.
First Generation RSV Exhaust System (headers, link and single-sided silencer).
First Generation Wiring Loom with Switchgear (90% complete - some relays missing).
First Generation Stator, Flywheel, Pick-Up Sensor and Cover.
First Generation Fuel Pump.
I also have a complete and working set of First Generation instrument / speedo internals. The casing were damaged, but I had planned to integrate the
clocks into the dash of my project anyway so that didn't matter.
All that's still required is to get a couple of First Generation rocker covers (£20 off of eBay), a little fettling to make them fit and then to
put it all together.
PRICE
You know the score by now... you're paying less for the bits than I did!
I'll do the chassis, chassis components and bodywork / wing for £900 (a replacement wing would cost you the best part of £400 on it's own!
).
I'll do the engine and bits for £850. Yip, there are bare engines on eBay as low as £450-500, but by the time you've bought all the bits to
make it go (which is pretty much what I'm offering), then you'll comfortably be over the 4-figure mark!
If you want the lot, then I'll make it £1600!
I'm be driving down to the Leicestershire area on Wednesday, so would include delivery if I was to meet up en-route, or if you were not too far
away.

good luck with the sale fella
Cheers Joe!
so what engine are you using now ?
Keep up Robert!
It's a BMW HP2 Sport engine.
I would love to continue this project on, but as you know, losing my job and no hope of another one means toys have stopped completely for me!!!
Good luck with the sale!

To be fair, the trike project has been simmering away for the last few years... it's just the component parts that keep changing!
Not any more though!

Guys - this is a really neat chassis and body combination and is a steal at that price!
Scootz - I'm more than happy to answer any questions about the original conversion and the car's history! I've also got a load of photos on the web and a couple of in car videos too if you want some links posting.

Please be aware that today I arranged for the small repair I mentioned to be done by Windle and also for then to tidy up some ugly welds. The chassis
will therefore be in A1 shape. Unfortunately this has cost me £200-ish, but I want it to be absolutely right for it's new owner!
I will absorb 50% of this additional cost myself, but unfortunately I WILL HAVE TO RAISE THE CHASSIS PRICE FROM £900 TO £1k in order to
recoup some the additional outlay.
*I would have just edited the original post, but the edit function date has expired*
That said, I will however honour the original price for Rob (only) who got his interest in early. Fairs fair!
Hi
As others have said before "a picture is worth a thousand words" any chance of posting some on here?
Just a quick update to let folk know that I've given Rob (wheels) a couple of weeks to make a deal.
I'll update again once I know if it's definitely sold or now.
Cheers!

could be interested in the chassis and bodywork but wouldn't want the engine as i have a busa lump in mind. If it it falls through i have got a bit of cash under the floor boards doing nothing.
Thanks Ash. I'll let you know how it goes with Rob.
Back available.
Rob primarily wanted it for track-day work, but most circuits won't allow a slick-shod single-seater to mix it with road cars.
Ash... you have U2U.
Sorry Scotty
I would have had it if they did
Best of luck with the sale and thanks again for being so patient.
Rob
i must say that although i have no finances to even thnik about this project. it does look very interesting!
Would consider PX for Omex, DTA, or Motec ECU and/or Race-Technology Dash 2.
Or anything else 'interesting'!
In that grand Scootz tradition of "buying low" and selling lower.
Gotta spread that lovin...

I forgot to add that I had a custom chip programmed for the ECU by the Aprilia guru 'Gabro'. It caters for a free-flowing exhaust and
airbox. It's available for an extra £75 (cost twice that) on the engine package.
I'll do it for free if someone buys the chassis and engine package together!
Still interested in that steering rack!
James
I'll get a snap for you!
I may well sell in parts!
Ok... will sell in parts!
SWIFT CHASSIS, BODYWORK AND FRONT SUSPENSION SOLD!
That said, the purchaser only wanted the front-end of the Swift chassis as he is building it back to Historic Formula Ford spec, so he's chopped
the back end off and left it with me.
The rear was build to take a Quaife chain-drive and comes with rear-wishbones... will save someone some design / build time on a BEC single-seater
project. I'll get a photo and post it up tomorrow.
The other bits still available are the:
Carbon bi-plane wing and mounting-frame. VGC! £200
2 x carbon engine covers / air scoops. One a little tatty cosmetically, the other VGC. £80 & £100, or £160 for both.

Is that the original Swift wing you still have Wyn?
What are you up to now then scott!
Decided to go with a BMW HP2 Sport engine and carbon-fibre monocoque instead Nat
Linky
PS - If anyone wants to go for your twin-engined Fiat and needs both engines then send them my way... I'll match your engine price to re-unite
them in their original home!

Cheers Wyn.
The lad who bought the chassis was wondering if you knew where any of the other original back-end parts went to? Don't suppose you have any bits
left?
Sadly we cut the rear end off in bits!
Pics of the rear chop of the chassis that's available. Comes with rear wishbones, bushes and designed to take a chain-drive diff. £50.
