what is wrong with the cbs one which is £1

russbost - 31/7/12 at 07:10 AM

The fact that they want to charge you £6.95 P & P for it!!!

Utterly ridiculous, which is why I had them done ages ago, £2.25 posted 1st class anywhere in the UK printed on top quality sticky back vinyl with durable inks. You might want to mention to Chris W. you're selling stuff on here - I don't see registered trader in your status!

worried about a little competition, Russ?

bob - 31/7/12 at 07:32 AM

Competition is good, but remember traders pay for that status

russbost - 31/7/12 at 08:15 AM

Not bothered about any competition Just like to see an even playing field. I earn pennies out of selling an IVA sticker, particularly after I've paid someone else 60p for the privilege of packing it - however it does serve to introduce people to my other products & services which I do sometimes earn a bob or two out of, now if you'd like to buy an Acewell dash, or a couple of pairs of projector headlights & some brake hoses..........................

I guess my main point was that had he used the search facility he could have bought one from me & saved himself the trouble of bothering to get an image done & printing loads of stickers which won't be particularly easy to pass on - there simply aren't that many people building cars & needing a sticker that are going to read this post, so unless you want the hassle, expense & aggravation that comes with all other methods of selling, & unless you're going to offer other products & services it's all a bit futile & a waste of time!!

All IMHO of course & hey, what do I know???

cbs website isn't great when it comes to postage. if you ring them they will put the sticker in the normal post saving you the courier cost.

That's interesting, was that recent? as when I asked for exactly that service a couple of years back I was told they would only use courier service!

tcr - 31/7/12 at 09:43 AM

im not competition or a trader !!!!! i posted a pic of a sticker i made on here and got asked how much would i charge for them ...then numerous ppl also asked if i could do them one of these too
seems funny to me that the one i did first had got no complaints but as soon as i do one that other ppl make it all kicks off and as for the price im not a company that buys materials in bulk or has a franking machine when you add up the price of envelopes , stamps , inks ,the paper ect i make about 75p and i only intended to print about six off which shouldn't worry big companies . i had an accident last year which im still recovering from and this was just something to keep me busy for for a hour or so not to ( make us millionaires this time next year rodney ) and seeing as i had paper left over from the sticker i made myself i thought id help fellow locosters out if anyone got a problem with that dont buy any !!!

TCR, as discussed on U2U, Ive combined the 2 to form one sticker - is this feasable?
(The orginal is huge RES to keep the quality high, as I assume you use a pixel based image rather than vector?, if vector I can send over the DWG file so its perfect quality?)

No upset, Just because its not the cheapest, doesnt mean you cant sell them!! I seem to recal you mention you were just using up the last of the sticker paper you bought, its not a lasting business!
As mentioned, even with cheaper postage the CBS is not better value. AFAIK they dont sell the bias bar sticker so its all good.

If you can produce a sticker thats based on mine then thats great as im after one thats combined so I can stick it on top of my pedal box. Dont want a sticker bombed engine bay!!

Would just point out that I wasn't complaining - I made a tongue in cheek comment, hence the tongue out smiley!

thanks like i said it was never meant to be a money making scheme , iv been off work 8 months now and im still unable to walk unaided and the op im having next month requires another 18 month recovery. going from working 6-7 days a week to being stuck on the settee 24/7 causes frustration and depression but doing these stickers gave me a break from the misery and to have someone pull you down for it is like a kick in the balls
i'll have a go at printing something off for you later and will send you a pic if thats ok

Worth a note for anyone jumping on the 'are you a registered trader' band wagon - the LCB definition of a trader is A 'trader' is defined as anyone who posts more than five posts advertising goods for sale in any calendar month, and any person making a regular profit from exposure gained from posts on LocostBuilders

neilp1 - 31/7/12 at 11:47 AM

My apologies I never intended to kick anyone anywhere - least of all there! My best wishes for a recovery, unfortunately from what you say, unlikely to be speedy

tcr - 31/7/12 at 09:39 PM

loggyboy - 1/8/12 at 10:44 AM

Not meaning to be too fussy, but is it possible to use my version of the bias one too?
If that is a final sticker then don't worry, it will still do job fine!
