Hello All
My Wife's Seat Alhambra will be up for sale in the next couple of weeks.
It's been the family vehicle for the last 8 years and has been without doubt the most useful vehicle we've ever owned.
7 full size seats for when you need to move people - take the seats out and you've got a very comfortable 'van'. It is a great tow
vehicle. I moved a full size 3 seater settee in the back, so that will give you some idea of how big the capacity is. I've listed the spec below.
I'm just about to service it - it has always been run on fully synthetic oil as a PD engined car should be. It's just been taxed for 6
months.
The only reason it's for sale is we're getting a Cmax. If I had the space to keep it, I would but the car collection is starting to get a
little too large. It returns a genuine 40+ MPG - you can get it to high 40's if you drive like Miss Daisy.
As with all vehicles of this age it has a few minor faults - but they are minor, I would like to be totally honest with any prospective buyer - my LCB
membership is more important to me than a few quid.
Air con needs regassing
Front strut top bearings have slight play in them - MOT tester has picked this up 3 years running - I told him to replace them - he says they
don't need doing but he has to report on them.
There are a few car park marks on it - all minor.
Rear wash wipe broken - but I intend to fix this prior to sale.
Brake pad warning comes on when started because the nugget snapped the warning wire when the new rear discs and pads were fitted - needs soldering
back together - text warning goes off when you start driving.
1 wheel nut cover missing from one alloy and a piece of the front grill is missing, courtesy of a pheasant - I intend to replace these prior to sale
also, if I can find them.
Needs 1 rear parking sensor replacing - again I'll try to source one prior to sale.
I'll be putting it on ebayAutotrader for £1995, but if a LCB wants it you can have it for £1500 no offers at that price please.
Anybody who is interested is welcome come and viewdrivecrawl all over it and I'll have the kettle on.
More pictures available on request.
Any questions of info just let me know

I've mentioned it to swmbo and she was liking it until she spotted the auto box! We've jyst sold our Bongo which was an auto and she liked
that but we have a chum who is selling his auto Alhambra to buy a manual as he is getting 24-28mpg! His previous 6 speed Alhambra was getting closer
to 45mpg! Now he knows I'm looking at your bus, he's trying to sell me his! Swmbo is also reluctant to swap her A4 Quattro as we've
just put four new tyres on it!
Your car is still a condender but we'll see if we can find a new home for the A4 to make thingsveasier!
I won't be getting time to look anywhere until next weekend anyway.
No problem. It's here if you want it.
I'm not actively marketing it until we've secured the new car for my wife.
If he's only getting 24-28mpg and it's a diesel - there is something drastically wrong with it ! or is it a petrol ?
It's a derv but it rarely leaves the town he lives in so it's all stop/start stuff.
That still sounds very low - has he got a lead foot ?
Not usually! He seems to have an OCD about facts and figures and keeps a detailed log of his mileage (checked with gps!), how much fuel he uses and
how accurate his dash computer is! He took his last car back to the dealer when the 'range' on his trip didn't agree with his
calculations!!
He's sent me piccies of his car and it's not a Alhambra! It's a Sharan. Is there much difference?
Same car, built on the same production line, as was the Ford Galaxy - they just changed lights, interior trim and badges etc - god knows why ???
When new, you got more for your money with an Alhambra than you did with a Sharan or Galaxy - that's why I went for one.
All the same running gear, engines etc..
Brilliant vehicles!
I wasn't sold on MPVs until I gave in and got an Alhambra for family duties. 40-45 mpg day in day out, 50 on a good run. As per OPs comments,
the flexibility to go from 7 seats to van mode is so handy. Just today I did a run to the tip with all seats out, then seats back in and took our 3
plus niece and nephew out in it.
Having an older one is also a bonus as you don't worry about knocks and scrapes
Bought the CMax for my wife today so the Alhambra is officially up for sale.
I'll try it on Gumtree before resorting to the harpies of eBlag.
u2u on it's way!
Provisionally sold.
Thanks to those who messaged me.
Up for sale again due to unforeseen circumstances of the prospective buyer.
am quite keen on this but dont know these cars at all well!
any gearbox issues with the auto? (oil changed recently etc)
i suppose theres a lot of miles left in these motors at 113k if serviced?
do you know gvw of the car as im a post 97 driver so can only have 3.5t max train! cheers
Hi Daniel
I don't know of any issues with the auto boxes on these, it hasn't missed a beat in our 8 years of ownership.
There's nothing in the service book indicating whenif the auto oil should be changed.
Regarding the mileage - it's now at 114,500 as we've been using it a bit - it won't go any higher now as the insurance has been
transferred. These engines are good for well in excess of 250,000 if serviced regularly - this has had the oil changed religiously every 10k.
Regarding the weight - I've checked the log book and it states;
Mass in Service 1928 - I assume this is the weight of the vehicle in kg, so 1928kg, I don't know how that fits in your towing planslicense.
If you have any more questions just let me know.
I'll be advertising it very shortly as I could do with the space.
Rgds
