This hasn't to my knowledge happened on here, but see this thread on an Escort forum where people got scammed by someone claiming to have a
garage clearout

he took the Escort guys for well over a grand before he was busted.
Please keep it in mind that forums are no more trustworthy than the local rag and probably far less safe thean eBay.
Be wary out there. If it seems to good to be true it probably is and if someone won't play ball with cash on collection then run a mile.

I can always get a Shunting pole from one of my ex workmates It's about 6' 6" ins long and has a hardened steel tip shaped like a curly
pig tail about 5 ins across and 10 ins long to shove up his rear end if you get him, that way you will be able to twist it round then pull all the
money out if required.
(Though usually they faint before you get near them especially when the person holding it is 6' 4" and around 16 stone built like a brick
outhouse)

Ive always thought paypal was safe i have even called them before making a purchase through paypal but not through ebay and asked how much protection
i have and i think as long as you don't spend over £500 your pretty much protected.
Well that now sounds like a load of rubbish i think ill be cancelling my paypal account and starting again so as to have a credit card on there

You can add a credit card as another funding option for your paypal account. They don't like you to use it if they can con you into using the bank account but on the 'Pay Now' page in small print there is an 'other funding' link for you to choose between the accounts you have set up if you have more than one. The "yes" button is not in bold like the "no" but it works.

All you really need to do is a bit of research on people. You can see from the sidebar how long the user has been registered, and its very easy to
search the forums to see what they have previously posted in various forums, which will give you a very good idea of whether they are genuine or
not.
In general though Id be very suprised if somebody came on here to scam people, and if they did the regulars would soon root them out Id hope, so
don't be too concerned about it, its just something to keep in the back of your mind.

Is this legal? We don't know. But it's how Paypal operates.
I know of a few cases where credit cards that have been held on file have been used, and paypal accounts have been cleared out by hackers! I empty my account as soon as it gets to £50 and have deleated all card details form my account,just put number in if i buy something,and deleate it again,it's a bloody pain, but better than having some arse running up a big debt!

I've heard paypal offer more protection for buyers than sellers. The other scam I've heard is you offer to buy something, pay through paypal
and ask you to drop it off with a friend. Friend takes the item all nice and polite etc then by the time you get home the transfer has been cancelled
and the money is gone. It sounds like the money gets transferred from another person's account and then retracts it because they never authorised
the payment (I never bought a macbook!)
