Cortina front calipers, best offer or FREE
blueshift - 9/12/07 at 07:38 PM

Have some more funds now so planning to change from Cortina front brakes to some billet alloy ones.

The bundle includes the caliper bolts, mounting bolts, new piston and caliper seals, and one of the connecting solid brake pipes. The other one was corroded and I planned to make up a replacement.

I took these off a car with a valid MOT which drove fine. dismantled, cleaned and painted them, but they've sat in a bag for about 2 years and have a light coating of rust inside the bores and inside the pistons.

It should not be a problem to recover them with electrolysis (seach the forums) but as there are issues with the caliper joining bolts being possibly one-use-only, these are for sale for someone to exchange for professionaly reconditioned parts, unless you are sure you know what you're doing.

Open to any offers or FREE, I have no idea if they're worth much. If there's no interest I'll put them on eBay, I want to get rid of them.

Free to collect or you pay the postage, fairly heavy, not sure how much it would be.

Are they the type 16 caliper.?

Must be worth puting back together for ebay.

The last set I sold went for £90 + P&P.

I believe the surcharge for these units is in the region of £60 -£70 each.

Yes, they're the type 16. I said I'll let the best offer on here take it and I'm a man of my word so.. make me an offer, else phil clegg (quick off the mark on U2U) gets them for nowt!

I don't want to be totally mercenary about it, and I'd rather they went to a locostbuilder.. but don't want to fall over myself to give them away for nothing if they're worth a decent amount!

Minefield! comments welcome!

Hi I can see your point of view.

Yes I too would rather see them used in a locost car.

Alas, no good for me as I am building the Haynes Roadster with all Sierra running gear.

Just thought I would point out the potential value.
