Free Engine

Good news is I have a engine going free to who ever wants to pick it up .

Bad news its an A series from a Morris Minor

I've inherited it and rather than take it straight down the scrap yard I thought I'd see if its any good to anyone on here
Looking at it, it will need stripping down and looking at before it could be used.

Very similar, but the transverse engine in a mini has few machining differences, and a different crank.

'Might be wrong but ain't that the same engine as a mini?'
I think you're right but I'm not sure if there's not a subtle difference somewhere to suit the mini's fwd .

Just had a quick look at the minor forum and there's a running engine complete with box on there for £100 . Perhaps I've found the ideal cheap engine for kit cars , can't get much more Locost than that

Who wants to go fast anyway

and you cant get much less power than that either

I thought the minor was notorious for killing anyone brave or stupid enough to consider overtaking! Probably their last words were ‘Ahh there’s something coming…quick get out and push!!!!’

Powerful they were not

Brings to mind my Grandparents - my Grandfather was slightly narcoleptic so on long trips in the MM would fall asleep at the wheel. My grandmother would then steer from the passenger seat and wake him up when he needed to brake. Guess the lack of power had its advantages.
