Can 2pack be sprayed over acrylic? Apparently there are problems aplying 2pack over cellulose.

I believe there is some kind of primer that acts as a barrier between incompatible paints, might be worth a try if there is any doubt

you need to spray a good coat of isolator primer between the 2 to ensure no reaction, its a fairly readily available product and paint shop shoul have it.

In my experience 2 pack will normally go over enything if preped well ,its cellulose that wont go over many other paints without reaction. You can get sealer primers that you put on first ,mite be worth doing anyway because you dont want to be flating and repainting.

It isn't the paint itself that reacts with coat underneath is the thinners. The thinners used for most car finishes aren't that different they are mainly blends tolulene and acetone. 2K paints obviously have an activator which can be either separate or pre-mixed in the thinners.

2k paints usually go over automotive acrylic without problem provided they are not over thinned.
if using an isolater under coat over say coach ennamel it is 100% vital that the undercoat film is not brocken.


Be aware of just how dangerous spray 2k paint without te correct equipment is.
