Slightly lacking in detail there me thinks!! LOL

What engine now? what you planning on fitting? Why not just buy a direct replacement engine from a breakers to save all the hastle of fitment??

These engines are err "somewhat in demand", for both cars and vans.

Ninehigh - 27/2/10 at 04:57 PM

Sounds like you might want to send it off for reconditioning

MakeEverything - 27/2/10 at 04:58 PM

Whats the engine code?

hillbillyracer - 27/2/10 at 07:52 PM

You need to do a bit of research to find out but the chances are a car engine may do just fine. Mabye join a Renault forum?
I had a Fiat Scudo & needed an engine, I knew it was an XUDT Peugeot engine but non of the localish breakers would sell me an engine unless it was from the same type of van "the car ones are different mate, they just dont fit, all different mountings & that". They had even car engines but no van ones in stock or had van engines but wanted silly money over the car ones. I pulled the engine from a smashed Citroen Xsara, swapped manifolds, flywheel & clutch, mounting brackets & few other odds & sods (little more than an hours work) & it did over 20,000 miles & was still going great when I sold it.
I also used bits from a Volvo 440 diesel to fettle the then girlfriend's Clio diesel engine, we were told the Volvo ones a are completely different, hardly share any bits I was told.

Let me guess did the turbo self destruct and try to exit via the engine ?

scotlad - 27/2/10 at 11:13 PM

I have 2 workmates, one with a laguna and one a traffic both with 2.2 tdci engines. Turbo went bang wrecking the engine on both as highlighted by Mr Trident. Replacement engines in great demand so very expensive

Anybody unlucky to have one of these engines should only use 5w/30 fully synthetic oil and change it at 5,000 mile intervals if they want the engine to last.
