Will I be able to fit a T9 5 speed to a Cross Flow without altering the drive shaft!

Do you have 4 speed now?

I assume you are asking if this a direct swap and your existing prop will fit without mods?

i thought some 4 speeds offered better acceleration than the 5 speed?


i dont suppose you have the length of your current gearbox from bellhousing to end of nose piece? Someone may be able to measure their box to comment on potential length difference. After that it depends on the splines and diameter etc where it fits on the nose.

Not if you currently have one of the old Escort type 4 speeds - the type 9 and the RS2000 4 speed have different splines

Sorry I am currently running a 4 Speed Box

As long as it's a four pot gearbox all you need to do is change the clutch plate for a 1"x23 one.

You will need to change the propshaft.

Both clutch and propshaft splines depends on which 4 speed box is in the car.

If it is a an Escort box you need to change both but be aware a type 9 is a lot bigger and heavier than a normal Mk2 Escort box.

It depends on the 4 speed box! If you have the 4 speeder from the Sierra the prop and clutch plate will fit straight on to a Type 9 , but you will have to relocate the gearbox mounting. The other 4 speed boxes will require different proshaft and/or clutch plates.
