Gearbox Clearout
cfc999 - 19/4/12 at 05:03 PM

I'm having a clearout and time to sell two of my gearbox's

1. Ford type 9 5 speed gearbox with gear lever, bell housing and clutch fork. Never been tested by myself but the chap I bought it off said it was tried in the car prior to removal and it worked well in all gears. If it doesn't work for what ever reason bring it back and I'll give you your money back. £100.

2. Ford type E 4 speed gearbox (23 splined version) with bell housing and clutch fork. Often referred to as the 'Rocket' box. (Rocket was the name of the original close-ratio competition gearbox that was based on the Type E). Never been tested and bought with a view to exchanging it for a new close ratio race gearbox to avoid the £195 plus vat surcharge if you didn't provide a exchange unit. Now becoming hard to find.£80

I've updated the add with more info and some pics. More pics on my photo archive. Also both gearbox's come with bell housing's, gear levers, clutch release forks and bearings attached. (asking a extra £30 for the type e because I didn't realise I had the bell housing, clutch fork and bearing) Sorry for any confusion.
Cheers
Chris.

Do you still have the type 9?

If so , is it a long or short shaft and what ratios is it?

Cheers, Will

The type 9 is still for sale (rocket sold). Not sure which one it is to be honest. Have a good look at the picks if that helps. I think it came out of a early sierra but not 100% sure. Ratios are standard road going ones so it will have a very short first.

It looks to be a short shaft which will be fine for my MG Midget. A short first isn't too much of a problem either, as it will be used as a daily driver in summer months. Having a gear that will creep nicely at idle in traffic at 5mph is quite nice to have in a commuter car.
