Pair of 5.75" LED Halo Headlights for sale
Edwardo - 23/4/21 at 07:44 PM

Bought these off Ebay last week without reading the ad properly.

The Halo's alternate colour is blue rather than orange as I wanted (for indicator use obviously) - Only realized the stupid mistake when testing in the garage tonight.

Ebay Ad

They were bought as a pair and I've snipped one of the adaptor wires to test so I can't return them. Will be fine if you only want headlights for the white DRL Halo and Hi/Lo headlight without using the colour.

Paid £37 delivered - looking for £28 delivered to your door (UK mainland) with Hermes 3-5 day tracked

Pee'd off with myself as the colour is even in the picture on the Ebay ad - so must have had a huge brain fart that day

Cheers
Tony

Is it wrong that I'm slightly amused by you mistake? Just imagining your WTF moment as you tested them... Sorry.

roadrunner - 24/4/21 at 04:11 PM

Have you ordered the correct one's yet.
I would be interested in how good they are.
Have been looking at these myself.

Will try and post up some images for you.

Thanks Ed

I've got some that appear to be the same (but amber). The headlight are brilliant (literally) and at night it's like having your own sun. Flat cut off on dip which works fine for me as it's works both here and in Europe. Main beam does what it should.

I wasn't convinced by DRLs previously but it was very noticeable that they work once I fitted these. Also bright enough that it doesn't matter if I forget to switch dip on in alpine tunnels.

Indicators are good but there is an issue with hazard function. They require a separate ignition +ve feed for the DRLs and without it the indicators don't work. That means front hazards only work with ignition on. I can kill the engine and fuel pump while leaving ignition on for the body loom so I didn't do anything about it. lf that wouldn't work for you (or for IVA) then I'm sure there's be a way around it with relays.

I got mine from Russbost when he did a group buy but one did go faulty and I found a replacement on eBay and that just as good as the original.

How much was the one from eBay Adi.

I have been tempted to buy the cheap ones but cautious also.

NO LONGER FOR SALE

Just realised - the new (correct this time) orange ringed ones that are arriving tomorrow also have 2 of those new connector wires. So will be popping one of those back in to replace the one I butchered and returning the blue pair for refund

Brad - I will probably test them over the weekend, so will try and post some images up for you.

I can't remember to be honest.

Thanks Ed.
Do yours come with the housing's.

No worries Adi.

The cheap Ebay lights don't come with housings.

I bought a new set of black housings off a guy on Facebook for £37 posted - they are £23 each on Ebay so a small saving.

They are these ones :-

Wasn't sure they would suit the LED headlights but gave it a whirl as its not a lot of money. Apart from the wires exiting at the top (will probably blank those and re-drill at the bottom) I think they look ok? Apologies for the poor pics but it doesn't show up well on our worktop :-

I'll reserve judgement until they get fitted on the car

roadrunner - 28/4/21 at 09:28 PM

Thanks for that.

P.S.
Your just showing off your granite worktop

Lol - I can't afford Granite, it's 'Quartz', the poor mans Granite!

Please find link to quick vid just taken in the garage. The quality is not as good as the original on my phone but hopefully it gives you an idea of what 1 headlight looks like.

It was connected to an old battery that's past its best so would expect it to be brighter with a decent battery and engine running.

Glad it helped I did actually do a quick test of one of Dominators that came fitted on the car too tonight (apologies but no video). The light was very yellow in comparison and def not as bright.

In case you wanted it - these are the exact ones I bought. Quick delivery with Parcelforce 48 too :-

Just ordered a pair.
Looking on his shop he had the exact lights but sold as a pair for £33.56 with free delivery. Can't go wrong at that.

Nice one! He didn't have that deal running when I bought mine - I paid 38 delivered so you've got a proper bargain there!

roadrunner - 30/4/21 at 09:20 AM

Cost me more for the housing's though.

Hi Tony, did you not get the halo type for the indicating?

Edwardo - 22/5/21 at 10:23 PM

Hi Steve, yeah I did and they work great for it by all accounts (now I've got the right colour lol).

It's apparently a faff to have them also work with the hazards tho so I'll probably not bother and just have them for indicators.

roadrunner - 23/5/21 at 08:00 AM

I've fitted mine. Not tried them in the dark though.
They work really well as DRL's and indicators.
The only problem I had is the flasher relay thinks there's a blown bulb as they blink too fast.
I just fitted my standard blinkers under the nose were you can't see them. There will be a proper work around, just not researched it yet.

Stevestriker750 - 23/5/21 at 01:16 PM

None available which is annoying

I think resistors may be needed to overcome this problem?

I know i used them on bikes with LED indicators years ago.

Edwardo - 24/5/21 at 09:28 AM

On the last build I used an LED flasher unit like this to save faffing with adding in resistors.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232720696800?hash=item362f3c05e0:g:UeoA AOSwdMheehEz

That was with all Indicators being LED though - so probably wouldn't work if you have a combo.

roadrunner - 24/5/21 at 09:34 AM

Just this second ordered some load resistors.
looked at the relays but figured that because I've already got the wires in place from the old indicators it will be easy to fit them.
