Cheap K series anyone?

1.8 K series lump from an 2002 MG ZR.

Will come with inlet and exhaust manifolds, loom, ecu, maybe some other bits depending on what I get on the new engine (a t16 turbo).

I did the head gasket on it a few years back, done properly with the metal locating dowels, liner heights checked, 3-layer range rover gasket, etc. Seems to run perfectly well, no nasty noises, starts first time, etc, but it's got loads of white smoke coming out of the exhaust. No idea what's causing it but as the owner wants more power he wants to cut his losses and transplant the T16 turbo in there instead.

It does have a minor water leak from the radiator and the level was a bit on the low side (but far from empty) when I went to look at it after the smoke was first reported which may or may not be related. He claims it hasn't overheated but I'd not want to guarantee that.

So anyway, you might find something silly when it's pulled apart, it might need a head gasket, or it could be a cracked head or something like that. Worst case you'll need to get a head for it but the bottom end, cams, ancillary bits should be reusable.

It can be heard running for the next week or two, depending on how busy I am. Currently located in Denham, Bucks but will be moved to my place in Gerrards Cross shortly ready for the transplant.

Editted to add: No reasonable offer refused. That includes a swap for beer!

Cheers, Chris
