MNR Racing 'Ginetta' G20 Junior
MNR Racing 'Ginetta' G20 Junior - bespoke MX5 rolling chassis & bodywork
Hello all
I haven’t posted on here for some time, but details below of a project I am selling that may be of interest.
Pre-covid, I commissioned MNR Racing to build and design a bespoke chassis to work with a G20 Junior bodywork. This is based on all parts from an MX-5
NB donor car with a host of chassis improvements / strength over Ginetta's original G20 Sierra-based chassis. As many parts as practicable for
reliability / ease of replacement.
Due to sheer lack of time to complete, I am now selling it on.
It is currently a rolling chassis and located at MNR’s workshop near Harrogate. Numerous recent (ish) pictures in my photo archive.
Details as below:
CAD designed MNR bespoke chassis with cage. Grey powdercoat
2003 year MX5 NB donor parts : engine & ancilliaries, gearbox, diff, uprights, hubs, rack, column, loom, switchgear, stalks clocks etc.. all items
painted / powdercoated
Shortened driveshafts
Rose jointed
New brakes and calipers
Relocated handbrake
Stock 1800 VVT engine – was running perfectly in donor - approx 100k
5 speed gearbox
Rear diff – non-torsen but I may be wrong..
Complete set of Ginetta G20 bodywork, bonnet, doors
Dashboard moulding (needs fettling to suit new chassis)
Set of team dynamics 15” alloys (used)
Fuel and brake lines installed
MNR pedal box installed
Part panelled cockpit
New MNR GRP seats and runners installed
Momo suede steering wheel with MX5 boss
Ally radiator (new) and silicon hoses
Custom designed bonnet hinge frame
Perspex door glass (cut and drilled)
Sheet of correct grade lexan for back window
Nylon door hinges
Lighting set (front, rear, indicators)
Handbrake and cables (new)
MNR chassis number stamped on frame
Manifold fabricated (MX5 part)
Coolant lines / header tank
MX5 V5 and chassis plate
Washer bottle, pump
ECU unit
Apart from assembly, will require: (note: this is not exhaustive list)
Fuel tank, pump
Shock absorbers & springs x 4
Propshaft shortening
Exhaust
Loom installed
Bodywork mounting
Flexi brake hoses
Main Bodywork shell unused but will need spider cracks removing / finishing
Doors and bonnet mouldings – new and unused – will need finishing
Interior panels (various – available from G20 specialists, De Spong Motorsport)
Windscreen (available on ebay – heated an option if for road use – available from De Spong Motorsport)
Wiper motor and assembly (MX5 motor unit supplied)
Painting or vinyl wrap
The car could be made road legal and that was my intention to put it through IVA, but to do so the ‘grp skin’ doors may need to be made substantial
(latching mechanism, inner skin etc). MX5 Mk1 door handles and interior handles will be supplied.
Please note that this is not and doesn’t claim to be a Ginetta ! This is a fully bespoke and designed chassis, factory built by MNR Racing using
bespoke wishbones and suspension parts. It carries an MNR model number and receipt / invoices for all work. Bodywork is all Ginetta and spares /
moulds still available via eBay / owners club. When completed it will make an excellent race car or a totally unique (and almost practical) road car
that should be cheap and reliable to run as uses all stock MX5 parts.
Oh – and worth also bearing in mind that it is a dinky thing being originally designed as a race car for youngsters as a step up from karting - It’s a
snug but comfortable cockpit.
Price? Well, I don’t expect to get back anywhere near what I have spent so far, but realistic offers invited around £6,500 please.
Marc at MNR is available to continue the build to any stage required. He is also available to show the car to genuine inquiries by arrangement. I will
upload more recent pictures to show complete rolling car ASAP. I will add anything I may have forgotten.
Any questions just send me a PM – thanks very much for reading.
