For Sale: IBM ThinkPad Laptop
IBM Lenovo ThinkPad A30 plus Docking Station
I'm a big fan of the ThinkPad range and this great little workhorse is about as reliable as a lappy can get. It is a really good spec too:
Pentium 3 Mobile 1Ghz
512Mb RAM
40Gb Hard Drive
2 (yes 2) x CDRW/DVD Drives
15" 1400x1050 LCD Screen
ATI Mobility Graphics
On board sound, modem, network
2 x PCMCIA Slots
Serial & Parallel Ports
2 x usb ports
The Docking Station adds:
Floppy Drive
Pass through ports for network, usb, digital monitor, firewire etc along with an extra cooling fan.
I will also include a genuine IBM mains supply for use when away from the docking station, a pcmcia WiFi network card, Windows XP Pro (genuine version
with installation CD) and I could be persuaded to preinstall a load of software for you (for trial purposes of course  )
I have owned this lappy for about two years and I can honestly say that it has been the best one I have ever owned - totally reliable and surprisingly
nippy, even when running graphics progs like Photoshop or Corel Draw. It plays DVDs without any problems and the on board sound is pretty good too.
The serial port is a very useful feature for mapping and a lot of more modern laptops don't have these any more.
The battery still holds enough charge for an hour's use or so but I tend to use the docking station or mains supply unless I am mapping the
ecu.
Everything is in remarkable condition with no obvious scratches or signs of wear. The screen is also intact without any dead pixels or bruises that I
can see.
All this for £130 + shipping

Does this laptop have a touchpad thingy as well as the a tiny joystick to move the mouse pointer?
If the answer is 'yes', and the machine's in as good a condition as you say it is then I'd very much like to buy it.

Kyle - IBM's don't have a pad, they have the "nipple" in the middle of the keyboard. Some like them, some don't. The
nipple is surprisingly quick to get used to!

Later machines have both, my T40 and now T60 do....

Hell, I'll take it anyway, seems like a good deal and cheap solution for lonely wi-fi nights in the bedroom!
PS: Only kidding, it's for SWMBO

Personally, I'm a nipple fan  As mentioned, you get used to it very quickly and I wouldn't go back to a touch pad now.

used to have a nipple & now have a pad. took ages to get used to the pad and still sometimes get annoyed by it.
The nipple is great & falls naturally to where you hand wants to be, the touch pads has your wrist hanging off the front of the laptop. (that
wasn't supposed to be rude and was editted to make it less so).

Thanks for that Pete - every day's a school day! Best of both worlds having both - My new Dell's have both and I strangley end up using
both depending on what application I'm using.
