EEE PC 701 (4GB) - Linux Laptop [SOLD]

Hi all,

Not really locost related (although it is cheap!), but thought I'd list this here in case anyone's interested.

I'm selling my Asus laptop, its got a 7" screen, 900mhz processor, 4GB solid state drive, wireless and wired network.

Great little laptop, will be sad to see it go. I've successfully had XP installed on it, all you need is to plug in an external CD drive, and install as normal. It has the original linux distro back on it now.

I'm looking for £175 plus postage, am open to offers but it's a good price. Recorded parcels came out at about £5.50, but I can check for other options if people wish.

Thanks,
Simon

Sorry I can't buy it as I'm in SA but am seriously thinking of getting one for light work in car and presentations and meetings - have you experienced any down-side to them.

Also wondered why you're selling it.

Am selling because the 9" version has been released, and am going to go with one of those instead.

I find it's fine to work on, but when I'm looking at web page source code, it gets a bit frustrating having to scroll.
They're great laptops for surfing the web, great portability.
If you're thinking of buying one I'd suggest you look at the 9" screen version, much bigger SSD (20GB) and the screen makes a world of difference!
Other than that no problems at all, OpenOffice is fine, I'm not a fan of the distro that comes with them (easily replaced with ubuntu!) but for most users it shouldn't be a problem.
