Unfinished McSorley 442 Project - £250!

Firstly, let me just say that I can’t believe I’m doing this. I bought this in April after longing for a project and reading threads on this forum for about a year! However, I have since made the difficult decision to buy a flat and settle down which means I simply do not have the funds or the space to keep it. Gutted.

Since collecting the chassis from Nottingham, I have spent a good few days sanding off surface rust and old paint with the intention of then finishing off the welding and having it re-painted. About 70-80% of the paint & rust removal process is done and some of the tack welds have been ground back ready to be re-welded.

I have simply copied and reworded much of the old advert as I haven’t done anything else to it since buying it, (the old advert description is in "speech marks"

”A Mcsorly 442 chassis with an IRS rear end with rose joints and all wishbones front and rear. There are engine mounts for a 2.0L Pinto and a type 9 box. A sierra diff, rear drive shafts and brakes are also included.”

All of this stuff needs a clean up as it has obviously been sitting around for a while.

“A scuttle, boot panel, robin hood nose cone, rear arches and one front arch make up the bodywork so far. The rear arches, scuttle and boot panel need tlc and all the parts will need painting at some point.”

“A stainless steel fuel tank with sender is included along with a sierra wiring loom and steering column as well as a roll bar (built by MK).”

“To finish the suspension, springs and dampers are required as are cortina uprights.”

”Please note I am not including the pinto, sterring rack or the type 9 box but has all been trial fitted on the mountings as seen in pics.”

The guy I bought it off had obviously spent a long time researching suspension setups and planning how it was to be built etc and I’ll provide receipts showing the cost of roll bar etc.

I bought it for £195. I spent £66 hiring a van, £100 on fuel and plenty of time grinding paint off! Therefore, I’d like £250 for it (no offers). Still a steal but at least allows me to recuperate some of my money back which will be spent on grown up stuff like kitchen appliances etc!

Collection only and P.S. it fits nicely into a long wheel based VW van!

As I said, I've spent a while cleaning up the chassis so it looks a lot nicer than it does in the pics!

Whoa - please read description! The engine and shocks arent included - they were trial fitted only by the previous buyer and thats where the pics are from

It is a bargain though - thats the whole reason I bought it in the first place!

Everything to do with these things is a deal in the UK, except gas prices.
