Take it across the road to the PC recycling centre, they'll love you forever
I did with 2 boot loads of computer junk I've collected over the past 10 years

What's a PC recycling centre when it's at home?!?! I've got a big old CRT monitor cluttering up my garage that I want to get rid of.
Seems a shame to bin it....

They take your old bits for free and find new homes for them. With the new WEEE initiave that's in place now, you cant just chuck it in the bin.
Plus you'd probably give the bin men a hernia if you did! I used to have 2 old Dell 21" CRT screens

Next door to the Jet petrol station. You mean you've never seen the big advertising boards outside?

Anything you take to a re-cycling centre, if it has a hard drive in it. Format the hard drive, and write a shedload of rubbish to it.
Or get a programme that writes ones and Zeros to the drive. (free off the net)
You do not know where the hard disck will end up. You could have personally identifiable information, bank accounts, users ID's, passwords for
websites and accounts etc. usually more than enough for Identity theft to take place.
DO be careful when you go to a recycling centre. They do NOT sanitize your PC for you. They wouldnt know how! Nor do they find good homes for old kit.
Its ALL electrical scrap to them which they sell off by the skipload. (or sell to passers by like me)
Half this stuff ends up in Nigeria on market stalls or in India being recycled for precious metals, or in a hole in the ground in China as foundation
rubble.
Please think about securely removing ALL your data before dropping the machine off at a so called recycling centre.
People have been traced back to their homes, just from data stored on the hard drive which was bought on a Nigerian market stall by the TV programme
makers.
Personally I dismantle the drive and take the platter out. Then smash it with a sledge hammer, and stick that in my bin. The rest can then safely go
to the recycle centre.
Dont be fooled or get caught out.
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
Best Regards
Geoff

WOW! I really do drive with blinkers on!
I drive past there pretty much every day, but only ever seen the sign for the sign makers.
Finally back on the job!

They used to occupy the signmakers building, but I guess they weren't making enough money and couldn't afford the shopfront, so moved into
the back
