Lotus Elise, how much is it worth??

Hi, I was thinking about selling my elise as i never use it. It is a 98R in Norfolk Mustard with black leather, 6 CD changer, black canvas roof, 4 new Yoko tyres, original MMC brakes etc, only done 17000 miles from new and always garaged, almost mint condition apart from a little wear on the drivers arm cushion thing. How much could i expect to get for it?

For your car and some ££££, you could own the MotaLeira!

Try looking out on piston heads and eBay for similar cars, or search for completed items, that will gve you a rough guide. Is it not in parkers?

I put it into whatcar valuation and it came back with about 15k because of the low mileage, i think parkers you have to pay. I was offered 8k last week from Christopher Neil in Northwich but i think it is worth a lot more than that.....

£8k would be about right.

You can get an S2 for not a lot more than that and the quality is a lot better (from experience of having owned both models).

If it's in exceptional condition (ie, no stone chips at all) you might push a little beyond £9k, but not much further.

I was thinking about £9-10k retail, so £8k from a dealer sounds about right.

Not a chance at £15k!

As per the Glass's guide (Oct book) Trade Value would be around £5,000. As already suggested though you would be best to see what similar cars are selling for.

Pete.

OT: I've been toying with the idea of buying an elise but find the S2 styling a lot fussier. What do you mean by "quality a lot better". In terms of design or manufacture?

I was offered 11k from Peter Smith back in April as part ex price.

Lotus only made about 10,000 S1 Elises and there are not many around with low mileage so i think a price of over 10k is justified. The S1 is also a proper mans Elise, they only made the S2 for girls and Americans!!

I've had both - the S2 is definitely the better car in terms of build quality... so much more solid than the S1.

Design is a personal thing, but for me the S2 is also the winner in this regard.

Best VFM... ??? Neither - the VX220 wins by a country mile! Wished I'd never traded it.

If you already know the answer, then why ask the question? Like all cars, it's worth what someone's willing to pay for it... !

That's why i asked the question so i could judge how much people would be willing to pay...

And what's been the general consensus???

You'd be better to ask on SELOC.

Anything from £10 to £10k so quite a wide range i would say.

It's got to be worth more than £10 though as 2nd hand cars have gone up by £600 this year!!
