Zetec & Ignition from a old Escort

I am replacing my pinto engine with a Zetec. I am using a MK2000 Carb which is on a custom manifold adaptor plate.

I was planning to use an old ignition module from a Mk4/5 escort (the last once to use a carb'ed CVH engine)

I have a 'esc' (no a edis) module but........ does any one have a wiring diagrame to connect it to a zetec? and/or does any one how to check if the module pack is any good?

Cheers in advance

B

If its the one with one temp sesor then this is the wirring digram.

If it has two then you can still use it as a guide from the above.

Later ecu's had an extra air temp sensor aswell as the coolant temp sensor.

Hope this helps.......

If you have the loom there is only four or five wires.

One is oil presure light that is in the loom. Some models have a tacho which is just a signal from one of the coils . Then there is the switched power and earth for the whole thing.

there is a live that went to a valve in the old carb, I think this was to stop it running on.

Daft question - apart from the fact you can program the megajolt to your engine, does this just do the same thing?

one last question, is the coolant temp sensor the one with the round plug, or the one with the square plug?

They are both a round two pin plug.

Have you got a pic of the loom ?

Yes does the same thing as a mgajolt but no trial and error and no programing just plug and play.

Down side is the advance cure is not the best for a zetec.

When I could find them I was paying £10 for all the bits to make it run bar the carb and manifold.

Cheap and cheerfull you pay's your money's ect

Hello again,

being really impulsive, i have just purchased a EDIS4 module as well (no ebay will power im afraid ) is the wiring diagram the same?

I know its not ideal, but i am on a really tight budget, so far the whole conversion has cost me about £60 including the engine. Only a new exhaust manifold to go....

Cheers,

B

No edis 4 is differant. Look on autolabs website for that.

For what you want the esc is better, the edis 4 has no controller and will just run at 10deg btdc and will run like a bag of spnners compared to the esc.

Like I said esc is fine on a budget. You can always run it for now and make a profit when you sell it to some one who doe banger racing.

ZETEC + ESC: wiring diagram + power?

Hi - Big-Wasa mentioned a diagram to fit a red ESC with a ZETEC - can I see it as well?
Also, how much bhp can I expect with R1 carbs?
Is megajolt so much better - or do you also end up with a close to 10deg advance?
Thanks!
