It depends how hot it get in truth mine is about 20mm away and i dont get any problems my car has alloy sides that are painted

Interesting topic. I was going to have mine 'inside' the bodywork, but wasn't sure whether the heat would just mess things up. At the very least I was going to cover the inside of the GRP with a heat shield or similar.

I should say I'm going for a full body rather than a seven design, so when I mean inside the bodywork it's still outside the cockpit. But it's still going to be tight, even a shaped exhaust is going to be an inch or so at most.
