Vinegar v's the rusty back plate
Thought I'd post the progress my back plate is doing each day in the old vinegar tub to let you see how effective it is compared to the
electrolyse method. It goes rusty almost the second it's dry but it’s really a dusting of rust. I was originally going to get these grit blasted
and hot dip galvanized but decided against it due to the fragile skirt on this design and the close tolerances where the hub fits through. One
it's done being cleaned I'll spray it with zinga coating. One of the best things about this method compared to blasting is that it gets
in-between the sheet metal and removes the rust there also. I read some concerns as to vinegar removing good metal as well but to be honest it
isn't doing that at all, just the rust.

Electrolysis would have it looking brand new overnight and no nasty smell, unless you fart!

I need to get my wishbones sorted and was going to get them powdercoated but i might use vinegar instead
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

True but I like how easy this method is (chuck it in and forget about it) plus it completely removes the rust rather than converts it, it's also
very cheap.
