For $13 it's worth a punt and a test against the SatNav.....
I worry it won't be that accurate. After all the iPhone isn't designed to be a g-meter....

I have a similar thing on my Orbit phone called GPS Performance, I do not think it is that accurate. It gave me a 3 sec 0-60 and a friends 200sx a
0-60 of 4.5 which is just not possible from the spec. The 1/4 mile runs seem to be slightly more accurate, I think the problem is in the accuracy of
the start, it seems to take a while to calculate the GPS and then gives strange readings.
It also told me I was pulling over 2g in acceleration from my little GSXR engine, I just cannot see this to be true.
Hopefully the Iphone version will be better.

Presumably the iphone will actually use its in-built accelerometer (used for knowing which way up you are holding it to rotate the screen image) so
should be more accurate than acceleration calulated from gps speed?

Maybe. But a "which way is up" accelerometer only needs to be +/- 1G!!!! Hardly accurate....

ive got a GTEC meter http://www.gtechpro.com/
which does sprints ect, if the iphone has got a acceleromometer it will use the initial 'G' produced to sence the 'start' of
the acceleration and start the stop watch, with the terminal speed being GPS derived, this is more accurate than GPS being used to sence and trigger
the stop watch and should be more accurate

No. You could use a transducer, mercury switches or your eyes...
