Heaviest engine

What would be the heaviest engine ever put in a standard MK Indy chassi? When does it need reinforcements?

Take your coat off mark nobody will argue on this one unless somebody has tried to squeeze a rolls royce merlin engine in

The pinto for its size is one big heavy lump of iron and i think weighs around the same if not more than an RV8

I belive a pinto weighs around 135kgs,a rover v8 do vary depending on year, some of the early ones were around 170kgs,and the later ones around 145kgs,thats without a gearbox, just fit a bike engine 60kgs to 70kgs all in

my v6 is heavier than the pinto, at a guess about 30kgs. I had the pinto in the falcon and then fitted the v6. Lost about an inch in travel, but the extra torque made up for it. Only prob was the brakes just were't good enough, hopefully the new car will be better suited.

The v8 is heavy but it most of the weight is in the bottom i.e. Crank and flywheel

it certainly wants to be behind the front wheel centre line

just stiking up for the boat anchor fraternity.

BMC B series is a bit heavier than a Pinto or a Rover/Buick V8.

I always thought the idea was to add "lightness".
