Avon Lights - Clearance
edspurrier - 16/8/08 at 05:58 PM

Trying to fit the front lights. I have 5 3/4" lights and there just isn't enough room between the car and the cyclewings.

Partly because the pre-drilled light hole was 5mm further out on the left, partly because the wheel is 2cm further in on left than right.

But any tips to make them fit? Can't raise them enough to fit cos there isn't enough thread.

Wonder why the brackets just don't fit in the first place....

I re-drilled the brackets further inboard and used spacers to raise the lights slightly to (hopefully) meet minimum height requirements for SVA (I've fitted shorter front shocks so that front lower 'bones are parallel to road and hence car sits lower than it would on standard Avon front shocks)

Thanks. Box section spacers it is I think.

With my strandard shocks there's just about enough ground clearance to drive over a small flea - you must have fun with potholes!

I raised the front suspension, Reduced the lock on the steering and bent the wing brakets in at the top.

It was one of my fails on the SVA because the wings touched the headlights on full lock.
