MotaLeira, almost there!
nitram38 - 19/3/09 at 08:09 PM

Got the nose back from the painter tonight. The photos show it loosley in place and with a replacement scuttle panel.
Apart from the bubble screens would fail sva, I'm having doubts about the vision through them.
I am thinking of putting two smaller bulges on the scuttle and I have been looking at all sorts of things on ebay!

how does the air suspension actually work? do you have a shock/air bag instead of a normal coilover? how does the compressor work?

i quite liked the idea of putting hydraulics on mine some time, but i don't know

First, using air suspension is not as good as Coilovers from the point of view that the shock settings are not adjustable.
I have shocks that were made by Arnott industries in Florida to my specified weight.
Airbags replace springs with pushfit plasic tubing and switches that direct/release air. A small 12v compressor provides fairly quick inflation and a dual needle gauge shows you what circuit/pressure .
I may still have to shorten my pushrods as there is an optimum height/pressure that the air springs work at their best.
I aim to run the car at 3" and have clearance of 5" for speed bumps. The car will rest on the floor, so for safety, I have titanium skid blocks on the chassis underside in case they fail.

Can drop it onto the deck at speed then to frighten those behind with a spark shower

omega0684 - 19/3/09 at 10:01 PM

how many lights have you got at the front?

SVA Manual says,

1)at least 2 front side lights,
2)no more than 2 dipped headlights
3)at least 2 main beam headlamps.

Amazing what those "Saturday jobs" can achieve!

Cheers,

I have the correct number of lights and I don't think that I will be trying the sparks thing out intentionally, but it may occur from time to time!

Your car really is an incredible achievement. It looks such a polished professional product - I could imagine it selling well as a kit.

Any more nice comments from the idiots on the Ariel forum?

When I posted a pic with the nose on, a positive comment about the nose only, usual derogatory comments about the rest.
Who cares? I'm only 6-8 weeks from giving it a proper blast!

Kosmo - 22/3/09 at 06:42 PM

If Atoms can pass I can't see you having any trouble. Have they given you any tips on their forum on what to look out for. ( I bet )

No!
But they definitely go for the test with extra grills etc, the same as our cars.
