893 Fireblade - Carb/head fuel flooding
phil_far - 26/10/09 at 08:40 AM

Hi,
I am tryingto re-start my 893 fireblade engine (idle for 2 years) as the projecrt is now nearly complete. However the pump did not cut off and upon cranking the engine without the plugs I got soaked in fuel. I removed the carbs and cleaned the fuel bowls and float valves, re-fit again but the pump still did not cut off. This time upon turning the negine only No2 cylnder spurted fuel out. I am going to replace the float valves with new ones as I am suspecting that the taper end is not selaing off.

Is there anything else I should check before I re-moun t everything back?

Is it the float bowl NEEDLES that you intend to replace?

If so, then get some acetone and a brush that 100% won't drop and bristles and give the area that seats the needles a really good going over. Any orange tinge needs to be removed entirely...

Yes I was referring to the needles.

Thanks will follow your advice
