Hi All

One of my friends is looking to race a hayabusa powered seven kit car and we're trying to find out the most effective way of stopping oil surge.

I've noticed that they're are different options such as modified baffle plates, swivel pickups and dry sump kits. Could anyone help by telling us what they have used and found to be the most effective?

my understanding (and I havent bought my bits yet) if your running a wet sump is you must have a swinging pick up anyway. the standard busa pickup does not swing through 360 degrees so is a requirement as is a shortened sump in a 7 as the engine is too tall. and since your buying all that you may as well get the baffle plate for a few £ more

dont take my word for it as im new to all this but thats my understanding at the moment.

edit to add that im sure you will get a few people who tell you, you have to run a dry sump on a busa. my understanding is that this is not the case at all. MK ran wet sumps last race season and Malc at Yorkshire Engines tells me a dry sump isnt required either. enough proof for me.

I've a accusump system that I don't mind selling if you're interested?

That with a baffled sump and you're sorted.

i run a swinging pick up sup on my racecar and have done for the past two years and they work well.
if you need any more info please ask.

The swinging pickup doesn't swing through 360 degrees on a Hayabusa it's more like 180. Holeshot do them or there is someone on here selling one at the moment.

And I'm selling a dry sump pan.

Tonight I was in the process of putting on my Rilltech wet sump pan and notice the engine has this pipe coming out. Anyone know what its for?

In the manual I found it with the words "breather Pipe". Not sure if this should be sitting in oil or not. The word breather some what leads me to think no...




I am building a MK Indy R with a 2008 Hayabusa engine.

Its the oil return pipe.

Yep it's the oil return back to the sump. I have had to cut it a bit shorter to fit my sump on.
