a friend on here ( marcus ) sent me a picture yesterday of a westfield inlet plenum to be used with the stock mondeo EFi.
this looked perfect for wat i needed.
i then called westfield yesterday and enquired about it - and they said they knew what i meant and had one in stock, so i ordered it.
lo-and-behold - im in the garage today early in the morning and a parcel force van arrives with my parcel!!!
result!
so i fitted it up ( comes with jub-clips and small section of hose to connect it to the throttlebody ).
works a treat...

and fits perfect

i then made a bracket to mount the airflow meter as follows
Description
Description
the filter will get fresh air from the bonnet scoop and to stop any hot air from the exhaust manifold being sucked in ( or to try and reduce it as
much as i can ) i made a heat shield out of some steel sheet from homebase.
Description
im then going to use a 120mm 12v Pc fan and a air duct on the side of the bonnet to help expell hot air..
really please - a really good day today.
I think the pc fan will be a waste of time. you need to get as much freash air under the bonnet as possible. a PC fan won't be affextive past
5mph at best!!!
You need to seperate the inlet from the engine area. Too keep cool air comming in IMO.
I wouldn't take air from across the engine either, are you trying not to have holes in your bonnet?
BTW...look a very clean build
wheel done !
But I think pc fan will do nothing .
ah you have a scoop (see link), cool, forget the pc fan though useless

That looks like the plastic air intake elbow off my mates Pug 306 TD...
Looks like a smart setup. How much did it set you back if you dont mind me asking?
Rather than a scoop I would suggest some means of letting hot air out, plenty of air gets in thru the nose but if it has nowhere to go....
Great choice of engine!
ok, i think the consensus is to forget the pc fan - i was mainly going to use it to try and get the hot air out when the car is sitting idle in
traffic.
The inlet plenum is a fibre glass jobbie from Westfield. It cost me 50ukp, which sounds alot but its saved me a hassle.
the bonnet already has a scoop at the front, and i can see the air filter from out side the car through the scoop.... with the heat sheild over the
exhaust manifold this helps keep the under bonnet temp down alot.
thanks for the comments... keep them coming...
