I think I might just hang onto the F27 as there are no takers and I'll rebuild it next year with a different engine / box.

It presently has a MK5 Cortina rear-axle... how much power / torque could you run through one before the costs get too silly? Any examples of products and prices would be much appreciated!

Depends on how brutal you are with it ! I have an english axle with standard shafts in my hillclimb car with a V8 race engine never had any bother and I run 9-10 inch super soft slicks.
