Hi Chaps
Anyone got anything lock and security wise which will make an up and over door more secure? Some type of lock you've bought but not fitted?
Anything locost considered!
Thanks in advance!
i put bolts on the inside, but i also have another door.
so maybe bolts and padlocks on the outside
be warned - bolts rip out far too easy.
A gang of lads charged my garage door - secured by 4 very large bolts into soild concreate floor. It ripped the entire door straight of.
If the up and over door is old, then they weren't very secure - newer ones are much better.
Saw a post on here recently using collapsable bollards - £12.99 each, two in front of the door would be a visable deterent, and stop the door being
lifted (but not bent backwards or charged at) - on the inside for a more subtle approach, that will stop the car being driven out.
industrial door, only way to go. Is round here anyway!
Hi, the items you need can be found here
http://www.dgsecurity.co.uk/GarShed.htm#garage
Irecommend them on my crime prevention surveys, yes they aint cheap, but it is a good quality bit of kit. I have not seen them compromised yet!
Kev
£73 i could bust one of off those in seconds
on my garage door i have welded in a steel frame behind then drilled 15mm holes down from the frame into the concrete when i exit the garage i put
steel bars through the frame into the concrete then exit through the back door which has bars on.
some blokes tried to break in to take the motorbikes and all they managed to achieve was snapping off the dummy turn handle and wrecking their crow
bars before they woke me up. managed to scatter them with the paintball gun before they run away. the police caught them 5mins later they were a bit
hard to miss covered in paint :-)
Whatever you use don't make it too obvious , the little scrouts will know you have something of value in there.

I have welded bolts to each corner of the door which bolt through the door runner which are then padlocked, so the only way to force it is to smash
the whole door off by which time the guys on the left would have sorted it for me, which they have before and no problems since
Padlocks through the track, have to break the padlocks to get the rollers past them, that and a security system, motion detectors door switches(my current employer)
