I don't know what caused it at the moment as I haven't had the car back from the recovery company yet to strip down, but there was a rattling/tapping from the cam cover as if something inside had come adrift, followed by a partial seizure, loss of oil pressure and a dumping of oil.

I will post pics once I've stripped the head down to keep you all up to date.
