Wanted, cheap aeroscreen to fit normal locost scuttle. U2U me if you have one you are willing to sell me or if you know of one going cheap somewhere.

Found their website, looks a bit high for what I want.

When I called any kit company about their aero screens, it turns out it is just a bit of perspex and was quoted, "you just shape it yourself"
This in mind, I bought a sheet of the outdoor type stuff from B&Q and made it myself (not easy to cut by the way !)
End result is not as good as I wanted but will do for now.

It's a bit dodgy but something that i have used several times in the past.....

get some strong (bare) wire - I use locking wire.

stretch it taught between two 6" nails set in a wooden frame.

now connect a car battery across the 2 nails (said it was dodgy!)

you will find this slices through perspex like butter....

What happens to the battery with this short & next to no load on it?
Do you use a knackered one ?
I doubt the cell plates will like that very much.
Anyone else tried this, maybe with a battery charger or other PSU ?

yep - use an old battery.....

and DO NOT touch the wire !

also do this in an open area with no combustibles... there WILL be sparks!

Wire cutting, is how shape foam and plastics normally.

It'sd not great for the battery, but what you find is that most of the electrical energy caused by the short if actaully disipated in heat. Just make sure you have a wire that wont melt (after all thats how fuses work)

I've used the same process to shape foam many time (called hot wire cutting)
