Hi,
I’m looking for a MK Indy or Mac#1 as a first kit car.
Or may be interested in Fisher Fury or Phoenix style cars (my wife’s preference!)
Exact criteria are open to suggestion, but in general :
Preferably SVA’d : I’ve not really got the space or time to build one (maybe next time
)
Preferably with 2.0l Zetec, XE is probably out of my budget ?
Preferably running/drivable/legal, but have access to a trailer, so could collect a non runner that “just needs a bit of fettling”.
Budget is flexible : around £5000 to £6000 depending on condition.
I think that seems reasonable based on old adverts.
(Why is it that there are 100s around when you are "just looking", but as soon as you actually have the cash to buy, there is nothing on
offer ?? )
Private buyer. Cash waiting.
I would like to see the car before I part with any reddies, but not after freebie test drives. I’m not looking to waste your time or mess you
about.
Based in Leicestershire, but willing to travel for a couple of hours to view or collect.
If your pride and joy needs a new home, or if you spot something suitable advertised elsewhere then please let me know.
Thanks very much,
Tim.

You're too fat for a Phoenix!
Good to see that you managed to sort out your login.

Give Mark or Col a call at the factory {0114 261 9633} they have a nice Pinto ZR for sale thats within your budget. Ideal first kit, made me smile
when i drove it.

Thanks Ash,
We had seen that on PistonHeads. Looks good and is at the top of the list of possibles. It's just that age-old debate about Pinto vs Zetec. The
words "Boat Anchor" were the description from a certain Phoenix owning friend. Could always save a few £s now and upgrade to Zetec later I
guess.

Without stating the obvious.
The exhaust on a pinto comes of the otherside to that of a Zetec (and bec for when you do the real upgrade!).
It means some body mods as well as engine mods.
I don't really know much about the pinto engine to be honest. But I have heard that they are quite heavy.
It doesn't really cost any more to build with Zetec in the first place but upgrading is costly because of all the backwards steps.
Just thoughts. Nissan Turbo sounds promising.

Looking at the Pics, I would perfer that over my Zetec Tiger.
it is sva'd cheeky, been on the road 2 years now.
How much more is needed for SVA?
Obviously the overall build quality is going to depend on who built it, but is there a great deal of difference between an MK and a MAC#1 ? ( Things
like chassis welding standards or panel finish )
I'm guessing that a lot of the components will be from the same donor ( suspension, diff, etc ) and overall geometry is going to be similar, so
is the handling going to be much different ?
Thanks.

I had thought that a Westfield would be out of my budget but this came up : WESTFIELD
1989 SE
Any compelling reasons for getting / not getting a 20 year old Westie over a 2 year old MK ?
