garage19 - 22/4/04 at 12:06 PM

My mate is after a cossy V6 for his sierra project (i know, i keep telling him DONOR CAR!). He has cash waiting. Somewhere near East Anglia would be great!

Thanks,

Doug.

I have just come from ebay and there is a cosworth with low mileage and no one bidding. It has mot and runs well.Hope this helps?
I am also using a cosworth v6 but my problem is a gearbox(manual)
Good luck

Keith - Isn't the Cosworth essentially a Cologne bottom end with 16v heads? If so, you want a 2.8 Capri or XR4i gearbox.

Re a donor car - I believe Conrod knows there whereabouts of a potential donor. Have to wait until he gets back next week tho.

You are correct on this subject.
I think I have had my head in the clouds too long as I have been trying to find a mt75 but the type 9 is looking more likely.
If only I could find a manual 2.4!!!

Type 9's are smaller, easier to find, and will work just as well unless you're putting silly power through them

the granny i spotted has gone, imho these engines arnt really worth the trouble,so much complication and parts prices for not too much extra power, rover V8 is best option if you want monster power(tin hat on dives for cover)

ned - 30/4/04 at 10:32 AM

i'd disagree with you conrodski

the rover v8 is a nice sounding engine, but as afar as power goes, for its size (litreage) i think it's actually quite poor, 3.5 litres, pushing around 200bhp?! from meeting other guys they seem to need a lot of cooling, then there's the shoe horning it in and the extra weight you carry.

dare i say the trusty vauxhall is a simpler engine and makes 155bhp as standard from 2ltrs, 180bhp with webers and a good exhaust, 200bhp on throttle bodies. cams on a stndard engine (with arp big end bolts) can take it upto around 220bhp @7500rpm.

if you're not a vauxhall man a zetec or duratec are similar money now.

[oh no, what have i started! - dives for cover too]

Ned.

nedski i was talking about monster engines,i agree these cars are better with small 4 pots not V8,s/V6,s.laters comrade

Ned - u should know Conrod wouldn't approve of anything as 'boy racer' as a Cosworth!

Now that's an engine.
Hugely troublesome - the most unreliable injection system ever, but what a noise.
There used to be a bloke up here had one in his GT racer - Lotus Esprit - and it was fantastically quick.
