I'm definitely going to need an extension to my type9 gearbox. I know RD do them and that dwjenkins put a great link on a DIY option, but I
don't have the necessary skills or tools to do that.
Is there anyone out there that knows where I might be able to get a 'locost' one please
Gearstick needs to be about 5"-6" further back to clear the dash.

It obviously depends on the clearance you have in your tunnel, but I found I was able to get the gearstick back to an acceptable position by removing the top cross piece in the tunnel (just where the tunnel top goes from angled to straight, if you get what I mean). I then mounted the engine+gearbox as far back as I could while still allowing some clearance to the bellhousing.
I bought mine from Westfield some time back - can't remember how much I paid, but don't think it was particularly low-cost. Tiger also do
(did?) a version, but again I don't have any idea of price.

No chance of moving the G/B back any further and it definitely needs at least 5" extension so I think I'm definitely gonna need the 'gizmo'.
The other thing you will need to watch is the size of the UJ's on the prop shaft. If they are too big then the extension fouls on it. I know this from experiance, which is why I have a spare (read unused / bolted on once and then removed) one, at the mo.
I bought mine from ebay as a westfield 'replica' for about £50. about 5 years ago now but worth a look??

Made mine using Davids design from bit's and pieces I had . IIRC it cost me all of £0.92!
Worth remembering that the cheap ones (and some of the expensive ones) can introduce alot of slop into the gear selector.
You can just bend the gear lever so second and fourth are horizontal, makes reverse an bit of an art, but very simple and works.
