Looking for a throttle cable
flak monkey - 12/2/10 at 07:55 PM

I am looking for a throttle cable with a 6mm eye on one end to connect to my throttle pedal. Needs to be around 1.5m long I reckon.

The other end will just be a screw on ferrule so thats easy to sort.

Anyone know of anything standard that fits the bill?

Thanks,
David

Ive been using a bike cable on my twin 40's 3 years no problems, local bike shop will be able to make one up for you to suit your needs.

Hi David
give me a call at the unit tomorrow, I keep outer, inner and all the threaded adaptors on the shelf to build them up to any length required. They come with 6mm soldered nipple on one end of the inner which I supply overlength so you can cut back and terminate. I will be on 01449 736633 from 9 til 5 tomorrow if thats any good to you
regards
Andy

I just had one made up by Speedy Cables (www.speedycables.com). Brilliant service and price.

+1 on the Bike cable - Go to a good bike shop (not halfords) and get a thick gear cable and corresponing outer. Should be able to cut both to length.

do bike ones have 6mm eyes??

stuart_g - 12/2/10 at 09:13 PM

I used a brake cable from Halfords only £3.99 and is about 1.5m long. The nipple is 7mm diameter and I just drilled out the throtlle lever on the TB's as there's plenty of metal to do this. Fits and works a treat.

I doubt you will find a cable with 6mm eye on one end, If it has to be this then ring andy tomorrow.

Found out that Mac#1 sell them. Not in a rush for one, so may give Andy a call when I know exactly how long I need.

Clicky

I need a 6mm eye on one end as I need to bolt it to my pedal.

I did make up cables before but wasnt really happy with them long term.
