WTD: To borrow a bosch 044 fuel pump or high pressure gauge
tomgregory2000 - 8/4/10 at 08:56 PM

As above, i dont know if my 044 pump is working up to pressure so i need to get my hands on a pressure gauge to fit 8mm hose and work with high pressure fuel or a replacement 044 pump that i can test.
Anybody near southampton would be great

The engine fires up to about 1600rpm and then dies

If i connect the fuel pump before i fire the engine it starts for a second but if i have the engine turning over and then connected the fuel pump to power the engine doesnt want to start, it splutters a bit but doesnot supply enough fuel to get the engine running, but i dont know what the pump is doing :-S

yeh the fuel supply and return are plumbed up the right way round, ive wired up the pump a few different ways, and i get the same result, ill check the flow rate tomorrow :-)

Do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator or fixed ? Fuel pressure gauges are pretty cheap and it would pay to put one on and leave it.

factory standard regulator fitted

Is the pump getting enough flow from the tank (eg. is the outlet large enough). Check for fuel cavitation. I had this with a tank and had to have it modified wuith a larger bore outlet.

What ECU. If it is a late 14 or 14a then the cut-out maybe the imobiliser. If using an aftermarket one are the base settings right?

More questions than answers I am afraid.

It is running Apexi power fc so no immobiliser and it was running before it was removed from the s13 that it had been fitted to, the only thing that i have changed is the fuel pump, it was running a warbo? 225? pump and i have fitted a secondhand bosch 044 and i dont know if it working properly

Walbro 255 should be an adequate pump, pretty similar to the bosch 44, if you want an upgrade there are bigger walbro's (305, 345 etc) and they aren't too expensive. Sounds like an electrical fault rather than a mechanical one to me...
