I am after a decent wet and dry workshop vaccum cleaner.
We use the blue Numatic ones at work, but they are a fortune new. That said if I can find a second hand one that would do.
Its going to get a hard life so need something suitable robust! Therefore I would rather a secondhand industrial unit than a cheaper new unit.
Any suggestions? Or indeed anyone have one they are looking to get rid of?
Cheers,
David
know nothing on the subject, but what sort of budget? is nilfisk stuff any good?
what about something like
this?
This is LocostBuilders....

I use an ancient Hoover Aquamaster in the shop.
Picks up everything - including the odd spanner.....
There is one on e-Bay

I use a cheapie one and it even sucks the oil out of the sump! Usage in garage compared to domestic usage is low - twice a month or so - dont waste dosh on quality where its not needed is my motto
There's plenty of Henrys on eBay for ~£50.
I've just got a crappy old thing I inherited for the garage. Does the job - it's not like the floor has to be immaculate in there. I will
admit to pinching the Dyson from the house when I'm doing the cars tho - it sucks so much more.... in a good way!

I am kind of between domestic and industrial - when I say workshop, I dont mean my garage
. Usage is pretty heavy and the stuff it picks up is
everything from steel and ali swarf, oil, sawdust as well as hoovering out the car etc.
I think I have managed to find a good Numatic for very reasonable money - will have to wait and see.
The only thing I'd say is avoid the Silverline ones. Normally I like Silverline stuff but I've got one of their garage hoovers and it's rubbish....
Numatic is the dogs nutsack You can get spares cheap and theres second user ones ones on ebay for not much money.
Those expensive DIESOONS are best avoided.
I had two and they both jammed up with dust as plastic and moving air make static electricity...this leads to muck clinging on the the inside of the
airways ....As they use expensive hepa filters they clogged up often..
Henry or one of the branded nilfisk stuff no bother

I use a henry, the things indestructable !
I use it all the time in the garage it's happy dealing with the swarf from the lathe or mill. Mines now over 10 years old and the only thing i
have replace is a hose.

Ive got a Henry vacuum for the workshop and its always been very good with swarf etc no problem. However I manged to kill it by using it to clear the
water out of the foot wells of my car after i got caught in the rain one day.The next time it tried to use it it sounded rough and I found the brushes
had corroded into the holders and my continued use had caused them to arc and damage the commutator.
Bearing in mind it is not a wet and dry vac then it lasted quite well up until then.
