WTD: short length of ali bar c. 20mm diameter
Humbug - 4/6/10 at 10:37 AM

I got some bike mirrors and have fitted them to the side of the scuttle. Trouble is, because the scuttle angles in towards the front, I can't quite adjust the mirrors to get a comfortable rear view (I like to be able to see the outside of the rollbar over the top of the rear arches). I had the thought of making some angled spacers/shims from a piece of ali bar. The idea would be to cut make some thick discs (say 10mm thick, 20mm diameter) and cut them in half on the angle to make two equal spacers. That would allow the fixing nut to butt up square against the spacers. The stem of the mirrors is M10 so I would drill a 10mm hole through the spacers.

Does anyone have a short piece of ali bar c 20mm in diameter? If that person had the wherewithal to accurately do the cutting as well, that would be ideal .

TIA

Simon

Have a look for some motorbike hand gaurds. They have a similar thing that rotates inside the bar to tighten.

As S. Law would have it I chucked 2 sets in the bin a couple weeks ago.....
