Hi All,

I have my welder up and running so let the fun begin!

i want to make a a small movable stand for my new engine so i can work on it out of the car without having to take off the flywheel and clutch housing.

where is the best place to get !2 box section from? don't really need a lot a few metres i would say to start off with. anyone got any lying around they don't want or does anyone know of any suppliers in the midlands area?

Thanks Again

Alex

Metal supermarkets are convenient rather than cheap. There's one in Coventry and one in Redditch. I buy my steel from Worcestershire steels in Redditch. They have a £20 minimum order but you get quite a lot of steel for that much. They prefer to sell 6.1m bars but will cut it up for you to transport in your car. I take an old duvet cover to wrap it in because the steel they sell is very oily.

I'd second metal supermarket as well - very convienient but not cheap in the slightest.

The prices are haggleable though and if you buy enough the price does drop dramatically.

You've also got parkers steal in Coventry (but i've never used them).

I've got some 1 and 2 inch box section lying on the garage floor I am not using.

Live in the stafford area.

Yell.com, enter steel 'stockholders' for your area and a list will appear.

If you are making one for the welding practice,OK, but if you want a ready made one, I have one of these, unused and gathering dust(so much dust and so many things to gather it) if it's any good to you.
