Wtd Scrap MGB distributor
r1_pete - 18/6/10 at 07:28 AM

Anyone got an old scrap MGB dizzy they'd like to sell.

When I upgrade the jaguar to EDIS I need to plug the hole where the distributor was, and don't want to cut up a perfectly good distributor, but still need the bottom drive section to retain the oil pump drive, looking at teh sopecs a B distributor will do me.

If the distributor is "Scrap" then the drive will be worn. Surely you wouldnt want to put this into the engine??

Have you tried Mec Spec on the way out to Gainsborough ( Gringley on the hill or thereabouts) so not too far away from you, I used to buy MG related parts for My Austin from them

There is a guy down the road from us that sells/restores MGs Spitfires etc. If you like I can give you his details (when I get them) if that's any help.

He managed to find me a secdond-hand fuel sender for my spitfire fuel tank in the locost.

Let me know.

JB

Cheers, Yes I know Mechspec, will give them a try.

Any contacts usefull.

Its not a drive as such, it has an offset dowel which locates with the mechanism which drives the oil pump, and looking at it the drive mechanism could ride up without a distributor base holding it down.

Cheers.
Pete.

Does it have to be MGB? I have an AJ6 dizzy you can have for postage.

On spitfires etc I have seen core plugs used to replace the dizzy, though a bit worried it might get pushed up. Also seen plates with spacers under used to the same effect, with an engine breather attached...

Thanks Speedy, the aj6 is gear driven, the XK is offset dowel.
