WTD: 2x M6 thumbscrews/knobs
Humbug - 7/12/10 at 01:30 PM

I am after 2 knobs/thumbscrews with M6 threads to act as bolts for my hood support sticks. They will be screwed into threaded holes, so need to be fixed together, i.,e, not just knobs with separate threaded studs.

If you've got any taking up room on a shelf or have suggestions as to sources, please contact me by U2U or email (change " at " to @ in the email link...).

Cheers,

Simon

I have googled and looked on ebay but the best they seem to come up with is these, which look a bit "cheap" if you know what I mean. 10 M6 X 30 WING HEAD METAL THREAD THUMB SCREW KNOBS on eBay (end time 24-Dec-10 09:33:40 GMT)

Thanks, they look like the sort of thing, but you have to buy 5/10/20 minimum, depending on size. I may go for one of those types unless someone comes up with something better.

Thanks... those ones look like the threaded part is a bit too short

2nd try!

Although there is a min order value of £20! I'd be cheeky and ring them and ask for a couple of samples

Thanks all... I have now made my own, as they say, using some knobs I already had and threaded posts with normal M6 thread on one end, and a sort of coarse self tapper thread on the other which I screwed into the knobs with a smear of Araldite. I had to put the posts in the vice to be able to screw the knobs on, so I think it should be a strong enough fixing.

Cheers
