got a header tank arrived today and its beautiful, only think is, the inlets and outlet aren't beaded... as such my silicone hoses don't fit snugly, and the holes are too small to get a oyster tool in, plus it bends the pipe too.

i'm after some compression fitting brass olive type things

only need 1 of each (maybe 2 of each for getting it wrong), 8mm, 10mm, and 16mm if possible? think the best thing might be to push these on, and solder rather than have anything welded on

anyone have anything? 8mm and 10mm should be easy, but is 16mm available?

8 & 10 are standard sizes, you could cut through a 15mm olive to get it on your 16mm pipe
Not sure how easy it will be to solder ally though. silver solder might work, not something i've ever tried.

well, i've got some plumbers coming tomorrow after one of my ceilings fell through from a leaky shower, so i'll see if they have any. i can have lol. they put the shower in, call it compensation

vee twin, its a header tank for the car, so don't think any of those connectors will be any good for silicone hose...
the pipe is 16mm, the tube on the tank is 16mm, but there's a slight gap. too much to tighten down on it

Blake, 16mm is a standard size over here. If you get horribly stuck let me know. I may even have one kicking about. Just the postage....

If you fail to get your olives then...

I remember reading on here a trick whereby you use a few turns of epoxy soaked thread around the end. Rough up the alloy first of course. I've used it a couple of time and it seems to work nicely. I've used both JB weld and Araldite.

Use a flaring tool on the ends of the pipes, there looks plenty there to go at.

oooh, found some 16mm ones at RS, only in pcks of 10 though, so about 5 quid, but they are there!
but for the 3 i want it works out at £8.70, plus the £13 in fuel it'll cost to get there lol

and how do you fit them?! do you heat them up, slide them over and they shrink when they cool? or do they just fit with a bit of persuasion?
