i imagine for sierra= good luck lol

some BMWs have similar ratios. the diff is heavier though. look at E36 beemers

there's a sierra diff on ebay but no idea what ratio it would be. Even a second hand one should be ok as the damage to the diff in my live axle has occured due to rust scales in the bearings which would not happen with the sierra alloy case, he says...

thats a 7.5" diff (you can tell by the top mountings)
and from a 2wd cossie it should be a 3.64 LSD with the larger 108mm CV joints - but there is no way to confirm its an LSD or what ratio it is from that add.

sorry should have said for a sierra diff and how can i tell if its a 7 or 7 and a half inch ,it has lobros and a lots of plates stuck together,what type of lsd is this

after much searching i am now sure its a viscous diff ,i think it has had extra plates fitted which has made it almost solid ,i am removing some but how many,if i knew how many they had as standard thats how many i would put back otherwise i will guess refit and roadtest,if still to tight i will do it again,no choice..

the viscous bit is a sealed unit on the ford ones - it sounds like you might have a plate style LSD like a tran-x (or a gripper)

and as far as I know you can't add extra plates to them - instead you change the ramp angles to tune them

the viscous one hardly looks any different to the open centred ones: Ford LSD

to re-tune a viscous one you'd normally need to get the sealed bit refilled with a different spec of fluid

and as said in your other thread, DON'T just remove some of the plates. setting up is quite a procedure. don't know the ins and outs of it, but if you think you can just remove some plates to free it up, have a specialist do it!

ive got a 3.14 with lobro joints 7.5" but if im going to sell it your have to make me a good offer! Its mint condition machinally......
