Is this to replace a knackered engine? You realise the 5jj and 5vy are totally different motors?

5jj and 5pw are very similar, if you already have a 5jj I think the 5pw would replace it easier

I have a 5jj engine kit spare it's a cracking motor all stuff to make it work call 07737814426

5JJ 5PW 5VY any will be ok at the point in the build where i am able to have either

chicade - 16/3/11 at 11:25 AM

think would prefer later inj type engine for the few extra pony's!

Different ways of looking at it 5pw better torque and gearing so I've heard compared to 5vy.

5pw is the first injection model

Yes, not sure how much more. But the gearing and power band with the 5pw is better suited to a BEC in my opinion.

Don't get carried away with peak power figures, a 130hp blade engined car will still be mental. I know someone who had a fury with a 893 blade and now has a Phoenix with a 5pw r1 and said there's barely anything in it factoring gearing and setup etc in.

5PW sounds the way forward power commander, air filter and a good set up should be good fun!

Don't believe them! More power and more revs wins.

Hobbsy is probably the man to ask. His car is 5PW and he rode in mine (5VY) for a few days when his broke in the Alps last year. He's probably best placed to compare.

From what I've seen in RGB, a 30kg heavier car with 5VY engine performs the same as the lighter car with 5PY. In other words the power advantage of the later engine is worth the same as 30kg weight advantage.
(Thanks Adi )

Thats clearly car and driver weight so not remotely related to the engine weight :/ they're not all built the same, nor are the drivers!

30kg is nearly half what a 5pw motor weighs!

What he means is the 30kg heavier car with 5VY engine performs the same as the lighter car with 5PY. In other words the power advantage of the later engine is worth the same as 30kg weight advantage.

Ah my bad!

Well yeah, on track maybe when it's getting that power screwed out of it every gearchange

Thanks Adi - I was trying to do three things when I wrote that nonsense!
