anyone fancy playing with their lathe for me?

weird one, there's 5 bonnet pins supposed to hold my bonnet on, bonnet pins are an M12 thread
on the chassis is a threaded tube where the bonnet pin's supposed to go. its got an M10 nut welded on though, and i didn't realise it was a threaded tube underneath. i thought it was just a tube. had i realised this, i would have cut the nut off when i got the chassis, but now its got engine and exhausts and stuff in, i don't really want all the metal bits flying about.

easier solution would be if someone could turn down the thread on 2 pins, so i can cut a M10 thread on it instead. if i ever strip the chassis completely (for painting, for example) then i might cut the nuts off, but for now, i don't fancy it.

anyone fancy doing it out the kindness of their hearts? its a dead easy job really. pretty sure these ones are aluminium. they're certainly too light for stainless steel

Why not tap the nuts / tube to 12mm ?

read my first post

i could cut the nuts off, as the tube they're in is but i don't want the metal dust in around the engine

i don't have the right size drill or tap to open the nut out.

if it was a bare chassis, then it would get modded, but at this stage its much easier to get the pins changed

I did not mean cut the nuts off thats why i said tap the nuts and tube
but if you don't have a drill or tap hard luck

thats the thing, the tube underneath the nuts in already threaded to m12, i can see it when i peer inside. can't understand why the guy who had the chassis before me would have changed it, i guess i could get handy with a file to file through the weld and break the last bit off, but would take age. not enough room for hacksaw in there. threading the pins is the easiest way really

Graham, have a look at that thread i made about the filters, what was the air line adapter thing you mentioned in your last post? have you got a link to a photo or an ebay to the type of thing you mean? unless you have, and i've missed it. going to see the guy tomorrow on my way out to see what he's saying about the rest
