Turn indicator cancelling cam thing
Macbeast - 3/5/11 at 06:55 AM

Came to reassemble the steering column and the black plastic indicator cancel bit is missing

Don't suppose anybody's got one spare ?

Edit to add - Sierra column

Got mine from the local Ford dealer's spares department - cost me around 50p.

They say that part's no longer on the system

Still need this and IVA's on 17th. Even a loan would be better than nothing.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeese ??

annoying i know, but not a requirement for IVA (unless its essential to the indicators, like they won't work at all unless its there), sooo.... i shouldn't worry about it too much.
eg, its quite acceptable to have an on-off-on toggle switch, which is what i've got, and quite a few have a rocker switch

Ah OK Blake. Thanks very much.

I'll forget it for now then. Went out today for a tour of the scrapyards but the've all gone !! :-( T hey're all trendy winebars now :-)

Blast !!!

The indicator cancelling cam thing is also the retainer for the upper bearing and thrust washer.

So I do need one after all

could a steel replacement be made form some steel tube and a few bits of specially shaped steel pieces?

Macbeast - 9/5/11 at 05:33 PM

I think that's the answer. Just a sort of collar, without worrying about the self-cancelling lobe.

i know the real ones are plastic, but i'm sure a steel pipe, or plastic pipe if you can get some easier
if steel, i'm sure you could weld tabs on for cancelling if you wanted to, if you can weld
