WTD: K-nuts (oval nuts for things like prop bolts)

Hi,

Once again I'm struggling as I don't know the proper names for things!

I thought that the slightly oval nuts you can get for things like prop bolts (or anything you don't want to come undo) were called k-nuts?

I've also seen other all metal (i.e. NOT nylocs) nuts that lock - some of which you can only use once (they have a top part that digs into the thread a bit and shears off when you undo it).

Is it safe to re-use these ovalised nuts I have more than once?

They are still tight on the thread all the way.

I guess I could you nylocs but the k-nuts (if that's what they are called - the oval ones!) have done my very well so far.

I'm just worried that I've re-used them too many times.

Finally where can I buy such things? Searching for k-nuts on eBay brings up karting wheel nuts (just so happen to be in the M8 size I need but I'm not sure they are the same thing!).

I call them k nuts and I've also heard them called clinch nuts. My nut and bolt supplier does them quite cheap, if you're struggling let me know and I can post you some.

Cheers,

Vince

Main question is - how many times is it safe to re-use them
