I'm looking for a tow ball fitted bike rack capable of taking 3 or 4 bikes.
Anyone got anything that is in the Peterborough area? Can travel a bit but not too far.
I have seen on ebay the type I want, its the ones where the wheel sits on a support, we don't want the type with arms that stick under the
cross-bar. If that makes sense.

well, I was going to, but my wife has no faith in me. Even though I am a mech design engineer by trade and I design things to carry 100 times the
load for my job, she says that she wants one 'from a shop'. I have the carrier in the first post picture. 110% recommend it 
got mine from Halfords, think it was about £160 which seemed alot at the time.
It's very light although still steel construction, dead easy to fit by hand just a final tweek with a 17mm spanner is needed to tighten it onto
the towbar. I carry 3 bikes on mine with no bother or them getting slack. It's so compact I whip it off and put it in the bluebirds boot when not
in use. Only thing I'd have liked on it was an option to lock it to the towbar, I may weld a hoop onto it for a chain so I don't need to
take it off when I go for a ride. Been really great as it's opened up so many new places we can go (missy won't go on the road on a bike).
May seem pricey but honestly you'll not regret buying it, plus it won't damage your paintwork like some bike carriers...
I was also going to knock one up with the welder but tbh I'm glad I didn't as it wouldn't have been as good as this one, especially the
ball joint clamp (you can't just use a ball hitch as that would swing about)

Would also consider a roof mount 4 bike rack if anyone has one of those.
I made one from bits of old scrap and a couple of hours labour - cost about a tenner - and I can jump up and down on mine and I weigh 110 kg
Mine fits into the hole that (detatchable) towball goes into, then bolted into place and it pivots so it can be tilted down so boot can be opened.
